Thankyou so much for your help and support this week. My daughter uses her embroidery / sewing machine every day and it is a true workhorse. When the machine didn’t work properly and she couldn’t use it, she pan - I took the machine to yourselves and you quickly went through the issues and you helped resolve the problem quickly for which we are both so grateful. We both bought new machines last year from Hampshire Sewing Machines and would have no hesitation doing so again. I still have my eye on the Juki NX7!!

Yes my machine was overdue a service. Yes the owner agreed to back date as I had missed the text reminder. However I was surprised the service was to cost £145 + VAT. When I asked what was involved I was told " quite a lot actually" After form filling I asked again what was involved , only to be told, "that's the second time you have asked me and I'm not prepared to go into it". I remarked I thought it a reasonable question for an almost £200 service. I then refused the service and left the shop not before the owner tried to enter into a debate. He was extremely rude, unhelpful. I will not return and would suggest to others they shop around. I only gave 1* to post otherwise I would not have given any. No response necessary or it will be be another one sided debate.

Very disappointed with the cost of repair that was quoted , my elderly mother was quoted £170 repair costs for her Brother sewing machine that she had purchased from this store, the fault only required tightening with an Allen key which took less than a minute to complete ( my mother could not repair it herself due to her eyesight )

What a rip off! Just purchased a 24" open ended zip.....£6.50! I'm all for supporting local businesses but that's ridiculous.

Not surprised at so many low reviews . Went in there with a view to buy a High end embroidery machine. He was reading a newspaper as we looked round, never even bothered to acknowledge us. After seeing the machines we left and laughed at the absurdity of missing a sale like that.

tldr: Expensive and didn't fix the problem it went in with. Limited opening hours. If the issue with a machine is user error, then it seems they will just conduct an unneeded service. A friend took their machine here with a problem and is too polite to write a review. As others have mentioned, yes the price was agreed beforehand, however for £170 you expect good service - both polite communication and a working machine at the end, which I do not believe they received. My friend was having an issue with her machine so took in the machine with a sample of the sewing to "appraise". She was told that the tension needed re-calibrating - and at this point was informed the cost would be ~£130 + VAT. Upon collecting the machine (my friend's partner had to do this because of limited opening times), when asking what the problem was with the machine they were told that it "had been serviced" - no information was given about what specifically had been done or any issues that had been found. When using the machine again my friend had the same problem that she had before the service - she emailed with a question on what could be done, and was told that she needed to make another appointment (via phone), and bring the machine back in. She did this and the man was patronising and dismissive that there could be any issue with the machine, and told her the issue was user error (implying that it would have been this from the start). One would expect that if the issue is user error, then this possibility should have been made clear BEFORE an expensive service was conducted, especially as the original diagnosis was tension re-calibration. As a final and less significant point, the shop is open only from 10:00 till 16:00, which is hard to make when working full time. All bookings need to be made by phone, even when asking via email. My friend was told it would take 1 week and that they would be text messaged when it was finished, yet never received a message (they had to go in to see if it was ready) - so not one to use if you need a quick turn around. Edit: Grammar

Very expensive place to get sewing machines serviced. Other places will give you a basic service cost (+ cost of parts/additional work) over the phone first but Hampshire Sewing Machines requires you to bring the machine in first before giving any prices, which is a faff.
