Sadly, the terrible terrible customer service from one person has now put me off going to Halfords for life. I try to remind myself that this is just one (awful) person; that the other Halfords, around the nation, should not be negatively judged - but I find it too difficult. I went to have service and some work done. It cost me £600. This was hugely more expensive than I expected - nonetheless, I went to pay, with Apple Pay (on my ‘phone) as I knew it was guaranteed. An awful, loud, older man - in a senior position I believe - humiliated me LOUDLY and refused Apple Pay. This was so very inconvenient - as well as inappropriate - as there was no reason for this. He insisted - loudly and in front of his work colleagues (who had the grace to look uncomfortable) that it had to come out of my account and on a debit card. I explained that it was a guaranteed payment, that it was - of course - coming out of my account, but he refused to accept it, stating that he would not release the car until I made a different payment. In effect, he was stating (without words) that he didn’t trust me. I was in my nurses uniform - not that this fact should affect anything - but I also explained that I’d lived in the community here for 40 years, and was entirely trustworthy, well-known and etc. It infuriated me! I didn’t want to use my debit card for such a figure plus I had to go and get it, but had no choice but to do so in the end. I knew I had £600 in my account of course so I used my debit card - and after the transaction had gone through, he proceeded to look surprised, then muttered ‘’if you lived locally I might have done it’’. Disgusting. I said then ‘I live down the road, less than a mile away. However, I won’t be back - ever. You have no concept of good old-fashioned trust’ Horrible horrible man who discredits the once good reputation of Halfords, and shouldn’t be working with the public. This was around 3 years ago and I’d never go back.

Thank you to the two lovely ladies, who help me with the battery for my motorbike. I ask if they had any in stocks, and the young assistant went and got me one and ask if they if I would like them to dispose of the old battery. Thank you once again and I will come back again.

After major service at Halfords I received quotation to replace discs and break pads on all 4 wheels for £1400 (in this branch). I obtained quotation from Kwik Fit in Chandler’s Ford nearly half of the quote above (for the same brand parts and labour) and once I dropped off for my car for works to be carried out they called me back to say that they don’t need replacement at all for another year or two! Interestingly a guy from Halfords in Eastleigh was more than happy to replace all of them knowing that they don’t need to be replaced.
