Had spent £360 buying a new bicycle. I should have been measured for it when I ordered but wasn`t. When it came in I asked for the saddle to be lowered which was done. I then asked for the handlebars to be lowered but was told they couldn`t do that for me. When I queried this the assistant went to ask someone in another room but came back with the answer that they definitely could not alter the height of the handlebars. I asked if they were happy with sending me onto- the road on a bike which was unsuitable for me in terms of size. It seemed they were! I asked to see the person who made this rule and another member of staff appeared who, at first told me she couldn`t alter the height of the handlebars but, when I told her how to do it, did it! Result, a satisfactory solution but what hard work to get it. Usual problem with Halfords and large stores in general - happy to take your money but, when it comes to helping further......................!!!

No fault of anyone at this store, but Halfords is an idiotically bureaucratic company with a terrible website. They are unable to transfer an item for sale in other stores to one within reach, and their website claims that it is out of stock, when it is plainly available. Moreover there is no warning given that an upgraded bicycle battery takes a dipole plug 1mm different to the earlier model!

Ordered a couple of bits on line with the intention of picking them up in an hour A bit later realised I needed some spark plugs too. I was going to order them on line too (also available in 1 hr) but I thought that might complicate things so I decided to pick them up at the same time as the stuff I'd ordered. On arrival I asked the lad at the trade counter if the had the plugs in the storeroom as they weren't on the shelf. "Dunno, ask at the front till, they can search there" I asked at the front till. "If they aren't on the shelf we PROBABLY don't have them" I pointed out that the guy at the back had said they could check stock at the front. At that point he gave me that look most parents recognise as the offspring who's been caught in a fib and repeated "If they're not on the shelf they're probably not here" No check, no "definetely not" and no "sorry the on line check was obviously wrong" I'll get my plugs elsewhere then. Thanks Halfords.

Do not order anything online!! Ordered a kids bike and realised it's too small. Went on the live chat straight away and was told as it's an online order there is nothing they can do and left the chat. Which was very unprofessional. Called up at 9am the next day when they open and spoke too a lady on the phone who said she can't cancel it she needs to send it to another team and they will then confirm if it's aloud to be canclled or not. I SHOULD NOT BE THIS HARD FOR A REFUND!!! I haven't even collected the item. It's still in store in the box. Absolute joke won't order here again.

Halfords Salisbury have advised me recently on Thule roof rack systems and Nextbase dashcams. I have purchased an alternative fitting kit and footpack for the roof-rack and also a completely fitted Nextbase 622GW system. These have been upgrades for previously owned Thule and Nextbase items (and at the best price, though not inexpensive, but they are the best one can buy). The staff I've dealt with have been exceptionally helpful. Chris (new manager) is knowledgeable, Matt an excellent fitter (ably assisted by the newbie, Dwayne), Sam made all the bookings, and Sue advised me directly when the dashcam order had arrived. They have all been courteous and willing, and I've been pleasantly surprised by the overall experience.
