Great place with lots of route options. We'll maintained trails. Good toilets and a cafe, parking costs - machine takes card or cash, pay on the way out

Well, about half of the trails are closed off. The remaining ones still make up a good bike ride though, especially if you're too scared to ride the toughest ones anyway. What I do like about this place is the pump track, small practice track and the parkour frame, all located just past the visitor centre.

Used to come here in the 1960's to watch Jim Aim completely stuffing Jeff Smith and the BSA works team at Motorcycle Scrambling. Monkey hill still looks awesome but might be a tad unexciting on a push-bike !

Pros: + Free to use + Continuous loops with no uplift or boring fire road climbs + Big local community of riders + pump track and skills area + Exceptional bike shop & rental (what they lack in outright stock they make up for in service) + decent cafe Cons: - Certain trails often closed for 'repairs', with some completed repairs nerfing features - Bike specific trail sections frequently misused by walkers and children - focussed on technical XC - so don't come expecting big air and no pedalling
