Bit expensive for how much you get to see of the hall. Paid car park also. I get it stops walkers etc abusing it but £3 on top is a but much. Tea room reasonably priced.

Visited as part of Historic Houses membership. You have to pay £3.80 to park which is opposite the hall entrance on A6. Payment by card on exit at barrier. Payment is taken as you enter the main gate before the cafe so no chance of using cafe without paying entry to Hall. Well with a visit to witness a preserved medieval house. Good tour guide for kitchen. Gardens are pleasant but note that no picnics in the Hall gardens, disappointed about that as would have spent more time exploring. No dogs allowed. There are many steep uneven surfaces and low walls with steep drops so not suitable for everyone. Spent around 4 hours at the hall. Cafe is good, tea for two £3.90 for huge pot.

A very interesting and well-preserved example of a medieval /Tudor house. We enjoyed the freedom given to roam a number of major rooms in the building and the introduction/spotlight talks. The guides were very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. The entry fee, however, is definitely too high considering the experience offered. A lot is made of the wild parkland surrounding the property, but the actual outside area accessible to the public is very limited. This was somewhat disappointing. Additionally, the information panels in the house are too small to be viewed by multiple people at once. We were lucky to visit the site on a quiet day, and even so, we struggled to view the information in every room.
