I did a jewellery making course here in the evenings and it was great. I learned how to make earrings, pendants and rings in copper and silver. Nice community atmosphere and the teacher was so knowledgeable and easy going. The facilities are a bit tired but it really doesn't take away from the experience. Nice on-site cafe for some home cooking.

On the welding course there are plenty of tools at your disposal and nice bays to do gas welding and it is not expensive - cost just under £50 for a 5 hour session, doing a five-Saturday course. Moreover, the college itself has a nice feel to it. The communication, however, stinks; both before the course and towards the end when a make up session had to be arranged. With regard to the workshop, although the gas welding bays are good, the rest of the it is full of so much clutter. The work surface is covered in all sorts of junk, which has to be cleared before work can start, and to get goggles and ear defenders you have to wade throw a pile of assorted workshop dross. The teaching was very hands-off, which wasn't a bad thing, but he did seem more interested in doing repairs to his mini than actually doing any teaching.
