The starters were nice. We went for their fixed menu with some a la carte too. We also had the samosa's starters, and they had made them quite small, the issue with that is that you can't really do small pastry, and so that changed ratio of pastry to filling and so didn't work for me. The pani poori and chaat starters were excellent. The prawns were a really good size, but somehow they didn't blend in with the curry that they were in and almost felt as simply dropped into it the curry. Their lentils (dhaal) was excellent. For dessert I went for their Rasgulla Tiramisu, now I love each individually, and so thought the combination would be awesome, sadly totally disappointed, the only thing rasgulla about it was the name, couldn't see any trace in the dessert itself, and it felt like some white custard on top of a somewhat tiramisu like base, almost a poor trifle, and so the dessert was a big letdown, which frankly did not leave a good taste in your mouth as you finish what should have been a great meal. So my one word review would be Disappointing.

The only review you need to read. If you are visiting London this restaurant does not make the list. Nothing I would ever go back for. Some dishes were flat out awful, some were really good for Indian food. If you absolutely love Indian food then I could see why you would visit. However dishoom serves almost identical food if not better for literally half the price. We have all eaten at both and agreed Dishoom is actually BETTER than Gymkhana. No idea where the hype comes from for this restaurant. We did have good service and the staff was very kind and attentive. If you are looking for a fun atmosphere or just a great restaurant this wouldn’t make the top 30 in London. I’ll start with atmosphere. Not glamorous or anything special. Parties over 4 sit down stairs. Low ceilings, dark room. Not a fun environment, sort of stuffy and uncomfortable. The starters were all very spicy, the venison naan bread was overly spicy and greasy filling, not good. The Aloo Chat was really good. Probably the best bite of the night. The chicken tikka was not good. Had a thick rub of spices. The curries do NOT include rice. You must buy rice for £7 per small dish. The lamb roganjosh, which is usually my favorite, was really bad. It’s overly spiced with cloves and it’s literally a lamb shank with the big bone. Super fatty and fleshy, about half was edible the rest was pure fat and skin you had to spit out. The butter masala chicken was good, of course, still not the best I’ve ever had. The desserts were just so bad, one I had to spit out. I love dessert, not often do you find a dessert that’s so bad you spit it out. I thought this was going to be elevated, Indian flavors and gastronomic dishes, it’s not at all. It’s heavy, traditional Indian food for double the price of anywhere else just because it’s in Mayfair. 3 stars because the service was good the food is higher quality than most Indian restaurants and if you are seriously searching out Indian cuisine, this has some good offerings. But if you are looking for a night out or just a memorable meal in London this would be 1 star for that situation and should be avoided. No vibe, spicy, greasy, dark, gloomy.
