I have been under the care of this department at Guys Hospital since September 2021 having been referred from a regional hospital. The department and its staff are, simply, excellent!

One star is too much. If you are referred to this department, run away from it. There are many good departments in this hospital but the urology centre is total chaos, the telephone lines never answer, you have to come in person for any enquiry. Same for emails. The walk-in clinic for patients under their care has changed its hours, it opens at 9am now, and you must come before 9am because people do come early, they take 10 patients per day and waiting 6 hours to see the doctor is a standard there. Appointments are given 6 to 9 months later, care plans are non existing, all doctors are late so it's minimum 2-3 hours to spend in the department for an appointment supposed to be 30 mins or less. If you wait for the walk in, plenty of patients come with requests never answered by telephone or email, and unhappy with problems not being cared for. This is just chaos in there.

Completely happy with my experience here. Elective surgical procedure under general anaesthetic with an overnight stay at the hospital. Staff excellent, explained what they were doing, were kind and considerate throughout. And I'm home 24 hours later, pain-free.

If you cherish your life or the life of your loved ones, don't go here. Everyone appears helpful at first, but when things go sour everyone just points the finger and tries to get themselves out of a nasty situation which they created. In the end they don't have the decency, manners or the professionalism to sit down and tell a grieving family what really has happened. Will try to distract you from the truth and feed you with information that is not true. When asked to prove what they say, they disappear and don't say a word. The worst hospital you can come across, you are better off going to a pharmacy or operating on yourself as your chances of survival are better than going here. I wonder how long they will leave this review up before they cancel it, because this is what they do, they don't fix issues, they cancel them, which is not surprising in the cancel culture we live in today, however shocking it's happening in health care services. Such a prestigious name, Guy's and St Thomas Hospital, you would think you are getting the best care, think again.

3-4 months of ‘treatment’ led to no diagnosis, they missed major symptoms (bleeding kidneys), did not provide basic scans like CT, and told me they prioritise ‘ensuring a minimum bar of safety’ over diagnosis. They will catheterise you and leave you to rot. While the nurse team are excellent they unfortunately do not seem to have the proper autonomy to provide adequate treatment. Doctors are too busy to deal with patients and will leave you in pain for hours. You are lucky to get 5 minutes a week with a doctor, attending the walk in every day or 2. I was passing blood and experiencing extreme pain for weeks and had no investigation whatsoever. I’d often go into the walk-in barely able to walk and get told to go somewhere else, only when I’d catch a nurse walking by would they tell me I could be seen. Admin team - especially manager Nadia - are particularly awful, Nadia was condescending about my pain and distress and sought only to discipline me for expressing frustration after close to 4 months of no answers and being palmed off. She then informed me I had been discharged from care after I made a formal complaint about how she spoke to me. For the few scans they did do and 1 procedure not a single note or report was written. Suspiciously my reviews keep getting reported by somebody. Avoid treatment here if you can. I changed to another hospital (which was a nightmare in itself as Guys - again, specifically Nadia - refused to help or even guide me with this process) and had everything redone in a week, and am moving onto diagnosis stage a week following.

They won't answer the phone at all. It cuts you off or rings and is pit back on the ring loop. They should dismantle the line if they don't want answer phones

My husband has been given two telephone appointments with the Urology Consultant for results of PETscans. The call did not come on both occasions and we are both bitterly disappointed. We have been waiting since May.

Excellent. Had appointment 10:40 and seen 10:30. All completed by midday. Although seemed hectic they were very efficient. Prostrate examination, although not pleasant, over in under a minute. Other tests completed quickly. Discussion with Doctor helpful and results for me were in keeping and good for someone my age. So hopefully all OK. Only question should have asked is if men could have some form of scan regularly as women have for breast cancer.? Thank you.
