Extremely unprofessional and rude experience from GG in Derby, specifically those looking after their Toyota contract. I successfully passed the 3 internal Toyota assessments and passed the GG interview, only to be told a day later on an email from someone I had never heard of at GG that I hadn’t been given the job with no stated reasons. I called Derby GG to find out why, and they said I did not get the job due to someone at Toyota saying that I ‘did not look the part’, which is literally the definition of recruitment discrimination! I believe this is not true, and that they have just passed the blame off to Toyota due to failure to record the real reason. Shouldn’t be allowed to happen in 2023! If anything I was overqualified for the role having been a manager for several years prior and I was only applying for Toyota due to redundancy and quick need for an interim job. There is also need to question the stability and professionalism of Lorna at Derby GG, she was extremely rude to all applicants, discouraged the actual job role working duties, and told everyone that it was repetitive work and we should just go home at any point we felt it wasn’t right for us so not to waste their time. It was just plain rude. I felt so small and put down constantly when in her presence. On the Toyota site walkthrough she also was rude and aggressive towards several of the applicants who were walking slightly slower, repeatedly told applicants to take their hands out of pockets (even in the car park when not inside the factory setting), and said the working days/times so fast that nobody would be able to remember them. Honestly it was like being 8 years old with a school teacher telling you what to do, let alone the fact I was almost the same age as her. The entire GG staff at Derby Toyota could do with a serious review.
