    Poor planning and very poor building skills on replacing a concrete garage and its concrete base. On 13/5/21, paid a deposit and purchased a Lidget Compton garage from GSG Buildings with an agreed installation date of June 21. After repeated delays on 27/7/21, the old garage was removed and a new base installed. GSG aggressively requested full payment in spite of order form stating payment was due 7 days before delivery. The garage was eventually installed on 3/9/21, hence leaving my property open to trespassers for 38 days. The very poor construction has resulted in a base which is too small for the garage, in breach of Lidget's own guidance available on Internet. The base is also uneven, has several deep potholes, it is not level and slopes to the front and the right hand side. As a result there is a big ugly uneven gap between the right hand side of the main garage door, the door frame and the base. There is also a big gap between the right hand side concrete panels and the garage base, which lets in rain water. Right hand side and front concrete panels are leaning from the vertical by several degrees, are damaged, the doors do not close properly and the roof appears to be tilting. GSG inspected the garage on 9/9/21, agreed in an email that the base is 30mm out of level from left to right, its front right hand corner is 10mm out of level and last two panels have been raised by 10 to 15mm. In spite of this GSG states that the base is fit for purpose and the garage is a typical example of what GSG and Lidget produce and sell. My measurements however show that the gaps are significantly larger than those admitted by GSG. GSG has also left a gap of 80mm plus between the front garden wall, the back garden fence post and the garage. A very small gap of approx. 150mm has been left between my garage and next door's garage, which prevents the garage being maintained. Small pieces of rusty steel metal mesh have been installed at the bottom of the garage rather than end to end as noted in the sale order form. GSG refuses to refund any of the money paid, has subsequently glued an ugly lob sided rubber seal under the garage door, which does not cover the gap and states it has done all it can. Lidget refuses to carry out any repairs or honour its ten year guarantee to rectify the faults by stating that GSG is its customer! GSG staff are very rude, aggressive and have tried to intimidate me not to give them a poor review or seek any refund. I do not recommend this company. I strongly recommend that you use a qualified builder to install a garage base and purchase the garage yourself directly from a reputable manufacturer, which also installs it. This ensures that you are the customer and not GSG and will therefore have some legal remedy if things go wrong.
