We didn't know to much about Grimes graves mines before we went , just the bits and pieces in the English heritage membership magazine we received, and we decided to visit as it wasn't that far of a drive and honestly it is worth the visit, alot of information on the boards just off the gift shop about the history of the area throughout different period's of time, in the mines itself , it is very interesting, trying to imagine how they did all that with the tools they had on those times is amazing. Definitely worth the visit when in the area .

I didn't know what to expect at Grime's Graves, yet I couldn't have been more pleased with what I found. The small visitor's center was very informative and wonderfully interesting. Their gift shop was very topical and well stocked. Best of all, the staff were clearly dedicated and genuinely interested in what they did. They were professional and friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend visiting Grime's Grave should you ever have the chance.

This is a gem of a place hidden away. Brown signs lead you to a single track rood to the site, the car park is a bit uneven so watch when you park. There are toilets as you come on to the site. The shop has your normal English Heritage selection. The exhibition is very informative and gives a good history of the site and there is a guide book if you want more. The climb into the pit is easy but it's a bit cramped if you look into the off shoots. A fantastic bit of history
