Remember this restaurant prior to covid being awesome. Sadly came for mother's day lunch to treat my mum and mother-inlaw and was very disappointed. Quality was lacking as was presentation and attention to detail. Salad was wilted and the cured salmon was dry, clearly been plated up hours before as was the veg so overcooked and dry I couldn't believe how bad the veg was. No check backs on starters or desserts despite having to swap one of the dishes. had to leave the table numerous times to find staff for any assistance. A real disappointment to a great memory held of the place, clearly a very distant memory it is. It's understandable food may be prepped ina dance when having a busy restaurant but take some pride in what you are serving. There's no excuse for items missing from dishes, wilted salad and over stewed veg. Upon payment not even asked if everything was alright or OK woth the meal or experience, food was poor as was the service. Shame as the majority of the staff are young and very green and in need of some service training, my advice to the management or who seemed as management (older lady and gentleman) focus on standards and training, and if a customer says something is preped badly its not an argument or a debate..... just correct it. You should be embarrassed to serve some of the quality you served on mothers day, I know I would be as a waitress or as a chef.... you don't deserve the job title.

The best meal I have had in a restuarant. Very friendly and accommodating. I had black pudding, crispy bacon and pouched egg to start, very tasty and a perfect, runny poached egg. I asked for the chicken without the Stilton and mushroom sauce because I don't like Stilton. They offered to make a special mushroom sauce, the whole meal was hot, perfectly cooked and delicious. The staff are friendly and polite but not intrusive. The food is a bit more expensive than other restaurants but worth it for the quality of the produce and presentation. I never review restaurants but felt that this one deserved the effort.
