I stayed here with some friends for an event at the folk museum. The cottage is a cute cottage very hard to find in the dark mind you. I stayed in one of the rooms with the double bed upstairs over the living room. There was mould all over the windows and curtains and dust that has accumulated over a couple of weeks. And the bed sheets where unclean with orange splatters over the sheets. dust and cobwebs is apparent in all the rooms. There's lots of trinkets and photos around the property. They are thick in dust. Not to mention there is a layer of dust around the edges of every room. Like the cleaner has only.done the middle. The cottage itself is in an ideal place 1hr from York 1hr 30 from Stockton and only 1hr 30 from Hull Hutton le hole is definitely undrated with its very Friendly villagers and picturesque scenery I will definitely be visiting again but I will not be staying at the green gate cottage unless it undergoes a deep clean and a matanance of all it's rooms.

Finding the cottage: My friends and I were travelling to the location during the night. The small green gate was not visible during the night. Took 25 minutes to find it. There is no service at all in Hutton Le Hole so we couldn't get directions. Location: The location itself is stunning. It's very cottage core, and has a lovely cute village feel to it (although my rubbish phone couldn't portray the beauty). The locals are lovely and welcoming. Parking: The cottage itself has a parking area towards the back of the location with a big wooden gate to get in and out. The parking area is about enough space for 3 small cars. Entrance: The drive up to the cottage is just grass, there is no obvious path (since it is not located on the roadside). The cottage has an outside lock to get access to the house key. This was provided by the owners, and was easy to use. Sitting room- The sitting room is outdated, and has brown/green curtains with different tones of green furniture. Bathroom 1-Very small with toilet, sink and open shower. Modern style. This room is very cold, even with the heating on. We so had some issues where the shower wasn't draining well. Kitchen/dining room- The dining room is connected to the kitchen. The dining room table is big enough for 6-8 films. The kitchen is presented nicely. It has the appliances you need including a dishwasher. One drawer has snacks but some were already open by previous. The hallway is very tight so you have to squeeze past all the counters to get down the hall. The living room- The living room is spacious. It has a TV and plenty of seating! There is a nice bookcase and a cupboard full of games. No matching interior for this room. Bathroom 2- On the same hallway, at the end there is a toilet room. This room is old, the walls are cracked and the room is unclean. It is very dusty, full of cobwebs and there were plenty of spiders about. Front stairs- The front set of stairs are located in the living room. The stairs are small, steep and awkward to get up to. If you're overweight or have mobility issues, I highly recommend you avoid these stairs. Bedroom 1 (above the living room)- small room with a double bed. The bed is very high, and my friends had to literally climb onto the bed. The room was dusty and there was mould all over the windows, walls and behind the bed. The bed sheets on the bed had to be changed before they got in since the sheet had orange streaks all over it. Bathroom 3- This bathroom is very modern and very spacious! The bath is small, takes a while to fill and is not really accessible. The shower was an enclosed shower, and this also had drainage issues. No bath mats provided, had to improvise. Bedroom 3- (With all the decor)-Moving from bedroom 2 to this room there a couple of small steps and a door. The double bed was comfortable. There were two skylight windows which was a nice feature although it could of been dusted. One issue I had with this room is there was a door separating me and bedroom 2. We didn't have the key for this so I couldn't lock it. The floor is uneven. This room has a set of stairs which takes you down to the sitting room. Stairs 2- There is a door at the bottom, once again this can be locked but we didn't have the key. These stairs are much easier to climb. The only issue is, if you use these stairs to go upstairs, you then have to go through bedroom 3, and bedroom 2. Bedroom 4- by the side entrance there is another bedroom. This room is massive and modern. The bed is a queen size. They have modern drawers with free space and some with linen inside (not even placed inside tidily). Lots of room for maneuvering, good for those with mobility issues. Room appeared clean. We complained to the owners about the issues with the shower. They sent someone the next day to come fix it. Turns out the showers were just clogged with loads of hair because they haven't been cleaned in a long time. The toilet was also clogged for no apparent reason.

Highly recommend this 1st class cottage for an amazing break. It easily sleeps 8 adults with room to spare. The new extension provides a luxurious suite with the biggest bed I’ve seen!! Sheep graze immediately outside the front door which adds a special touch (Ernie the dog particularly liked this!).
