First time I went, I was supervised by Brian as I am new to the club and wanted to improve my game. After a few games, Brian Galligan was kind enough to provide guidance, tips, traps and demonstrations to show me different ways of viewing the board and the pieces, this completely made me realise that chess is a perspective game! Shabir Okhai, the secretary of the club also gave me helpful advice and guidance which I really appreciated, both people that I worked with were funny, level headed and amazing at chess! After having an enjoyable chess night in syston, my game has significantly improved in comparison to 2-3 weeks ago. I would recommend this club to players of all ability range and rating range, even unranked players.
