    The outlook and location are perfect, I won’t deny that. However, compared to the Doubletree by Hilton (it’s predecessor), for which I have been a regular patron for some years, it’s shocking in all other aspects of service apart from the outlook and location… They prioritise, supposedly, outdoor tables to hotel guests, but on enquiry to the concierge I was told they do not reserve tables in the garden. On my recent visit however, I saw them openly reserve a table and turn 3 groups away from said table. On questioning this, the response from the manager was and I quote, “we reserve tables for the some 300 hotel guests” - on that logic, the entire garden would be solely reserved and potentially empty. I managed to secure a table, where I was then instructed I must go to the bar to order, and carry said drinks (for reference the doubletree used to run table service, as any respectful 4 star hotel should). I proceeded to wait a further 15 mins to order 1 bottle of wine and water… on returning to order food, I waited another 10 minutes just to order to be told there was a 30 minute wait (understandable as it was busy). An hour later our food arrived. I commend the marketing of the Graduate chain, but to be told by staff when questioned, that the doubletree had “far more money” is an insult given the money that was put into transforming the building. If you cannot afford or get a hold of staff, remove tables - do not attempt to lecture me and blame Covid or Brexit for your incompetence. Adding insult to Injury when attempting to leave, the electric car park barrier payment system was not working and staff were slow to act.

    I went to the Graduate with a group of friends for afternoon tea and would not recommend going there if you are after a classy experience. The service was way below average and the staff didn't even seem to care when we pointed that out. Following from that, I wrote to the contact email online as well as one I was given on the day and received no acknowledgement. Here is a summary of the issues we experienced. The staff were terribly unprepared for afternoon tea - when we got there we were brought the tea, however we didn't have any cups. Once the cups arrived we asked if we could have an additional tea pot due to the size of our group - they had ran out of pots, despite the place being far from capacity. We were not served the tea, either. When they brought over the sandwiches and cakes, they realised that they had not given us serving places, so that took another 5 minutes. When we ran out of tea, we asked for more hot water. After 20 minutes, one of us went to the bar to check on that and they handed her two little milk jug with hot water. One of the jugs didn't even have a handle as it is meant for milk, not hot liquids. Even after this, no one came to check in on us, so when we wanted the bill, we had to go to the bar and ask for we. We were promptly told to wait there, and the member of staff handed us the bill over the bar. To top things off, there was an uncleared table near us that no one bothered to clear while were there. In addition, there was no hand wash in the ladies bathroom. All in all, the customer experience and service is pretty poor.
