Went to this book shop and I don’t recommend. I went today at 2pm (on a Monday) and I’ve been looking at this shop for my past three years heading into uni, I finally decided to stop being anxious and go in because why not- I love all kind of books. The door was locked despite the open sign but when reading another notice on the door it said to knock. So I knocked… An older man answered the door (I assume the owner) and I said I wanted to look around and see what kind of books they have. He said “the kind of books we have are the books that are in the window” and closed the door. If his business is to get rid of customers, he’s doing a great job. Honestly I’d recommend any other bookshop unless you’re looking to go somewhere to be judged for your appearance (I was in joggers and a tshirt and he looked disgusted) and have a door rudely shut on you. If I could give 0 stars I would

Hidden treasure of Coventry. Cash only for buying old books. No phone no photo. Back in time of reading books and maps.

I cannot recommend avoiding this shop more, upon entry the owner immediately asked what we were doing and then said “as long as you buy something” then proceeded to watch us the whole way round the shop whilst guarding the door as if we were clearly trying to steal something, i have never had a more uncomfortable, unpleasant and infuriating shop experience. The owner needs to work on his customer service as well as his unending snobbery. The shop also is set out like a hoarders front room with very few and difficult to see markings of genre and classification of books

I have visited this place several times in the past few days, and never once did I make it inside the store itself. I've knocked on the door and waited for minutes but no response. The store seems open, but it's not. There's absolutely no information anywhere re: the shop being open for visitors. Absolute waste of time.

I took a 2 hour journey to come and browse in this book shop. Only to be told I wasn't allowed to come on and browse. There wasn't an explanation as to why this was, the owner was just very rude and unwelcoming. Evey other book shop in the UK allows you to browse as long as you sanitise/social distance, so I'm not sure why I couldn't go in. There is a sign saying to knock if you'd like a book from the window or to call if you want anything specific, but doesn't that take the fun out of looking for a book? It's part of the joy of reading to find gems and rare books, that you may not have found elsewhere. As a book collector I would have spent a lot of money here so I suppose it's the owners loss. I'm not sure how they keep the business running if people can't look at the books, there should also be some kind of warning here on Google to let you know that you can't actually go in. A waste of a journey, it's a real shame.

Awesome second hand little book store, with some unusual/irregular business hours. There are often some little gems on sale at very competitive prices. It was handy when the pub next door was still open at the place is often open at night and it was an ideal time for smokers to do some window shopping while feeding their addiction.

One of my favourite bookshops in the UK. There is so much choice and the prices are really accessible. Books are everywhere giving of an old traditional atmosphere to the place. 100% recommend going there!
