One of the best located campsites in Britain , only one toilet and a tap though . Your not guaranteed to get entry so have a back up plan .

Great campsite. Clean and tidy, back to basics camping that also provides direct access to the stunning Gordale Scar. A quick chat with the owner upon arrival provided some very useful advice on the locale. Pitched up and withing 15 minutes were climbing the waterfall...followed by a pleasant walk across the top fields towards Malham Cove. Then down in to to village for a few pints of foaming ale..!! Top fish & chips in the nearby pub / hotel too.

The owner is a lovely man who offers us a reflection of how ridiculous our modern life is with our vast amounts of waste and our dependence upon others to meet our 'needs'. Gordale campsite offers a rare connection to the basics of life and to the most beautiful nature has to offer that few other campsites can. WARNING TO THE UNINITIATED: the facilities are 'unclean', if you have standards that you need other people to meet for you or your family, visit a different site. Booking and pricing is haphazard and you may be turned away on the day, if you need certainty, visit another site. The tap water is brown; boiled or filtered water from the spring is nicer, please don't buy plastic bottled water! I love the adventure of this place with all it's eccentricities and return frequently. When I can't, I wild camp elsewhere. It's probably my favourite place of peace in the UK. If you object to the piles or rubbish, don't add to it.

Gorgeous spot!! Limited facilities (there was just one toilet when we visited, no showers) but this wasn't an issue as we were expecting it and so prepared for a more wild camping experience. Amazing location, with Janets Foss and Gordale Scar both within a 5 minute walk and the cove/village are about a miles walk away. Perfect for exploring :) We did have some quite "unsavoury" neighbours on both nights we were there, who both separately got quite rowdy and aggressive to other campers and the owner of the site. The owner is a lovely gentleman and none of their behaviour reflected on him or his site, I think we were just unlucky. Pic attached was prior to the rabble turning up, and shows the lovely stream running through the site right in front of our tent. Would recommend and would absolutely return in the future!
