Great local beef and lamb with guaranteed provenance. Cockett's Rockets are a great tasty banger to make a spicy casserole. But the other sausage is high quality. The chicken is all free-range and from a local producer. We are fortunate enough live in the area but if you are visiting it is worth a call. And if you have a sweet tooth the famous Cockett's Fruit cake is a must or a curd tart. Both of which they make in their bakery at the back of the shop. You can even get a truckle of Wensleydale cheese, so that you can eat the fruit cake in the traditional Yorkshire method, by adding a slice of cheese to a slice of cake.

Very good bakery attached to the butcher shop. The staff were very friendly, and the bread and cakes were fresh and delicious. Definitely worth walking here rather than buying bread in a supermarket.

We have just had the garlic and spring onion sausages for tea. Absolutely delicious! We had called in for some bread on our way home from the Lake District and the display of sausages caught our attention. We will make sure we pass through Hawes again. Thank you Mr Cockett!
