I have known Gisela for many years now, training with both Howard and Gisela in the art of Tai Chi. In those days she had a keen eye for tiny detail, which stands her very well in all of her artistic adventures. Gisela moved on into mosaics using all her talent to master design and skill. Soon she expanded her skill base into sculpture and painting. Her talents are boundless. In resent times I moved to Portugal and so now see them both on my few trips back to the UK. Gisela started thinking about creating a collection of portraits of strong women. My mother Peg was a commercial artist in the 50's, sketching both womens and mens clothing to feature in London, Edinburgh and New York department store advertising, a skill now replaced by photography. Gisela and Peg got on well as fellow artists, despite Peg been 40 years older. So it was only natural for Gisela and I to hatch a plan to give birth to a portrait of her. I and Peg watched the wedding of Prince Harry while in Spain. She was not one for hats, but we had a sun hat to hand, which she wore for the wedding service. I photographed her and that was it. Gisela has the talent and skill to capture the essence of her subjects. She kept me updated daily if not more frequently as the painting took shape. It is quite astonishing to see the changes take place as she progresses. Gisela is multi talented and disciplined, turning her hand literally to writing her 1st novel, "BY THE Icehawk's Feather"; another skill added to her growing treasury.

I've just bought and read Gisela's new book, and it's a perfect book for lockdown. Set in a near future where the current threats of pandemic and energy consumption have been sorted, it is a book which is filled with goodwill and optimism.
