Gilbert White was one of the most influential Natural Historians ever to have lived, and his house, gardens and grounds show what made him interested in nature. They are beautiful. We went on a Nature Day event, with walks and talks on a range of subjects and activities for children to partake in. We will return on a normal day to take it all in again.

As a family outing, we took the children to take part in the Easter hunt quiz. This was an additional price to the entry tickets. So, it was a treat. The children enjoyed running on the grass looking for the Easter egg clues. Nearer the house and the courtyard by the tearoom and the shop, were lovely tulip beds. But, I would like to highlight two safety issues regarding the children. By the courtyard two large gates were open that led straight onto the busy road. I was very alarmed by this. ( was this an entry without tickets? ) secondly, there was stinging nettles all along the path from the car park. Children fall, and not only did our little girl get stung on her knees and hands, but we helped an alarmed Mother, who's toddlers face was stung. A beautiful setting, but I do feel that these safety issues need to be addressed when executing a children's activity.
