Can’t thank Gas Mark 1 enough for their help and great service. I had an issue with my toilet flush and they arranged an engineer to attend the next day. They got the flush sorted for me for a really reasonable charge. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Used GM1 for a big job at my place of work. Came and did a free quote and put in the most reasonable price out of four. Pleased with the work. Therefore when my mum urgently needed something fixed for my disabled brothers annex, I immediately recommend Gas Mark One as I knew they wouldn't rip her off. I was very wrong. The heating system needed a replacement part, she knew exactly what was wrong with it because it had broken before. She called Gas Mark One and said this is broken could you give me a quote for how much this will be to fix? The man said he will come out. He came out to the property, was there for literally 2 minutes and informed her of what she already knew, that that part needed replacing. He then gave her a card machine and charged her £85 for a 'call out charge' to tell her what she had called them for in the first place. He then said he will send a quote for the work. They were unaware at this point that this customer was my mum and they had just carried out a big job for me as a business, where they came in cheapest and did not charge to do a quote/call out at all. Very angry about this, I contacted Toni and he said he will take some money off the quote when she receives it. She received the quote two days later for over £400 plus the £85 she had needlessly paid. I didn't even bother asking for the reduction promised as I knew this was not what it cost to fix seen as we have had it fixed before. Low and behold we used a different plumber who asked for a couple of photos, was round 2 days later with the part needed, did the work and charged £80 for the whole lot! I felt awful that I had recommended this company based on business experience with them and they went and took advantage of an older lady and ripped her off. Never got the money back, and will never use again for business or personal. They treat businesses with bigger money jobs very different to a lone older woman. What makes it worse is when I first recommended them, my mother's response was oh no they were in the paper for ripping off older people. I said must have changed hands because they were very reasonable! I would avoid if you don't want to be ripped off. The only way they could have resolved this was to refund her the obvious rip of 'call out charge' but they wouldn't even do that sadly.

Gas Mark 1 came to my house to service the boiler and indicated a fault with the ignition. At the time we were not aware of any fault but in the days after we began to notice a fault which caused the boiler to switch off after firing up. I asked Gas Mark 1 to return and fix. They informed me it was an issue with the electrodes which they would replace. This took about 15 mins and was £160. In the section of their own form that details the charges for parts and the charge for labour, these had been left blank. This part is about £30 so to charge about £130 for 15 mins work seems very expensive. Anyway the next time the boiler fired up it was clear that the fault had not been fixed I contact GM1 again and a week later they returned with a seal which then replaced a seal within the boiler. As I was talking to the engineer I saw the pilot light go out and the boiler turn itself off. I pointed this out to the engineer but he said that he had turned it off. He then tidied up and left. I left the boiler for two hours and then tried to start it. It was exactly the same. I asked GM1 to send a different engineer pointing out that a "fresh pair of eyes" and different experiences may assist but this was declined. I was told that the guy who had been to my house was their most experienced engineer. He was also now suggesting that I either change the "PCB" at over 500 pounds or get a new boiler. Consequently I have had to employ another company engineer who spent about 30 mins trying to work out what was wrong and then when he had done that he then tested to be certain. He then replaced the parts and pointed out that my condense trap was also very mucky and had not been cleaned and that this should have been done when serviced by GM1 before Christmas. My system is now back to fully working and seemingly a bit quieter when on. I am very happy with Mark Allen Heating for sorting this issue first time and at a reasonable price compared to Gas Mark 1 who charged for two items in total that clearly did not need to be replaced and a fortune for the labour to replace these items. All while leaving the information as to cost of parts, cost of labour, time on site etc blank on their own form which also appears to be bad practice.

I needed a new hob and was limited by size. I called 4 companies and they only wanted to refit the kitchen. Gas Mark1 were excellent from start to finish. They told me exactly what they would do to resolve my needs and the work which was completed yesterday was excellent. The electrician/gas specialist and fitter were top guys. I paid them and they well deserved the business. My sincere thanks!!
