Garthorne Road Nature Reserve is a lovely place to visit. It's a patch of land owned by Network Rail that the council are keen to keep as green spaces. Volunteers run them and have regular open days and volunteer days for the public. Best to check their Facebook page for details and dates. The nature reserve was originally part of the Great North Wood, an ancient landscape that covered the high ground between Deptford and Selhurst. It became fragmented due the development of south London's suburbs.
