We dined a few times at the Galvin while staying at the Kimpton Fitzroy and absolutely loved it. Breakfast is excellent with a great selection. Dinner and drinks hit the spot after a long day exploring London. Our waiter Robert and the sommelier were extremely nice and helpful. Highly recommend.

We came to Galvin after a long day in London. The wine sommelier was excellent and very knowledgeable, the food tasted good and came out hot. Although the experience was ruined when it came to the service. We received poor service which was surprising for a high end restaurant. I wish I grabbed the severs name but unfortunately I did not. He was a ginger server with a hand tattoo and had a terrible attitude and ruined the experience for us.

Mediocre at best. Sadly this place tries so hard to appear “fancy” that they apparently forgot about their sense of quality. The service was friendly but unbearably serious and stiff. They forgot an order, thats ok, but they were not attentive, empty plates and empty glasses for 20 minutes. I need warmheartedness to feel welcome at a place. The food was decently presented and the quality of the ingredients acceptable but there is an absurd discrepancy in serving “down to earth food” on huge plates in tiny portions. Five tablespoons of risotto for a maincourse is a insult to every grandmother in Italy. Fish was overcooked although we specially asked for it to be pink. We paid a few hundert pounds and left hungry. Small portions is fine but a concept applied to multi-course menus. Avoidance of food waist is noble but when you only serve small portions in a three (!) course dinner its mandatory to ask the guest for a second serving. Wine card is ok, we were happy to find english sparkling wine on it. Big no-no is to not write the year of the wine on the card. The Chateauneuf du pape we had was as fresh as lettuce, all tough of good quality, way to young to have on any card. The warm bread and butter they served was our highlight.
