Well the location of the store is premium real estate and highly fashionable, even if parking is extremely difficult in that part of London. I'd rather it was on Oxford Street for instance. The shop isn't very large and the selection of watches is ok but there are many models currently on sale that aren't on display. The layout of the store is a bit odd, There is what looks like a counter running down the middle of the store, but the staff don't use it as a counter for the large part, so I wonder what the point of it is, as if they moved the glass displays to the wall and got rid of it, it would really open up the shop and make it less claustrophobic. It's also very dimly lit. The staff in there seem to be rather burned out and going through the motions. Shopping there really was quite a joyless experience. Either they aren't getting paid enough or they are being overworked. Either way, it doesn't match the level of friendliness and professionalism of adjacent stores nor the premium location and G-Shock brand. They obviously are trained enough, as they recite the standard lines during the purchase in parrot fashion like they've said them 1000s of times before, but without any enthusiasm whatsoever. It feels rather clinical. The way they turn their back to you when you are doing anything with their card machine or even using the ipad to enter your email address is totally over the top - and the blue gloves - I appreciate the effort being made to seem professional in this respect, but it is a bit too much (mainly the back turning), as back turning is often viewed as a sign of disrespect in other contexts lol and merely looking away would suffice which is what everyone else does in other stores. So all in all, unless I was passing, and particularly wanted to see a watch in person before buying, I would never want to use this store again and would just buy from the G-Shock web site or use another retailer. So a lot of money has gone into this store but the customer experience could be improved immensely at little cost.
