Fascinating piece of British history. Worth a visit just to learn about its origins and development over the years. Apparently it was once the home of the Bishops of London since AD704 and has a longer history stretching back 6 thousand years. There’s a Tudor part of the ‘house’ with a Tudor courtyard, an Edwardian addition and a Victorian chapel plus gardens with a magnificent wisteria and the usual shop and cafe to explore all on the edge of the River Thames. And its free to enter with a voluntary donation to keep it going - but may be worth booking an entry time slot.
