FAQ

How does craniosacral therapy differ from other types of manual therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle form of manual therapy that focuses on the subtle movements of the craniosacral system, which includes the bones of the skull, spine, and pelvis, as well as the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. This therapy differs from other types of manual therapy in its emphasis on the body's inherent healing capacity and its ability to self-regulate and self-correct. It also involves a highly skilled and sensitive touch that allows the practitioner to detect and release restrictions and imbalances in the craniosacral system.

Can craniosacral therapy be helpful for my specific condition or symptoms?

Craniosacral therapy can be helpful for a wide range of conditions and symptoms, including chronic pain, headaches, migraines, TMJ disorders, anxiety, depression, digestive disorders, and more. However, it is important to note that craniosacral therapy is not a replacement for medical care, and it is always recommended to consult with a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new treatment.

What is the curriculum like and what subjects are covered?

At Fulham Osteopaths, our craniosacral therapy training program includes both theoretical and practical components. The curriculum covers a range of topics, including anatomy and physiology, craniosacral anatomy and physiology, assessment and treatment techniques, and professional ethics and standards. We also emphasize the importance of developing strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a deep understanding and respect for the body's innate healing wisdom.

How much hands-on clinical experience do students receive?

Our craniosacral therapy training program includes a significant amount of hands-on clinical experience, which is essential for developing the skills and confidence needed to work effectively with clients. Students will have the opportunity to work with a variety of clients under the supervision of experienced instructors, and will receive feedback and guidance to help them refine their techniques and approaches.

Are there any job placement services available?

At Fulham Osteopaths, we are committed to supporting our students and alumni in their professional development. While we do not offer job placement services directly, we do provide guidance and resources to help our graduates build successful and fulfilling careers in craniosacral therapy. This includes networking

Verena has been amazing with my baby daughter; she has really enjoyed the experience and Verena was very flexible in accomodating her feeding patterns and offered me a space where I could breastfeed her. Definitely reccomended😊

I’m overdue a review but is never too late. Specifically having had such an amazing results which was beyond my expectations! After over two years suffering from back and neck pain and some treatments that didn’t work for me, I was advised by a friend to see an osteopath. I saw Verena and it took three sessions for me to feel pain free and be discharged. Verena is very professional, knowledgeable, gentle and friendly. It’s been over two months now since my last session and I feel great!

Excellent Osteopaths. I saw Valentina. I came in with a back injury, barely able to move, sit, stand or walk. Within a few weeks, with a few excellent treatment sessions and great advice / home exercises, I’m now 100% better. Excellent follow up with a quick video message to cover the key recommendations from our first session (what a brilliant idea - when you are in pain you don’t pay attention to everything you are told) and I have had several follow up messages from Valentina, with further suggestions to help maintain my wellbeing, encourage further improvement and prevent a recurrent injury. Highly recommend!

Our son was born with diminished shoulder/ neck mobility, and a rather flat head. We were very lucky to find Melinda. thanks to her care and advice our son regained mobility and we could avoid having him to wear an helmet. She also noticed that he had a tongue tie and advised us to fix it as it was one of the factors contributing to the tension in his neck and that it was therefore affecting his posture. And sure enough, as soon as we did our son was much more free in his movements! This also helped him feed more comfortably. Melinda gave us a series of simple exercises to perform at home which were instrumental to a fast improvement of our son problems. She has a very soothing presence and gentle touch, and from the start we felt that our son was in very good hands. I would recommend 100%!

It’s been now a few months that I am being seen by Melinda. She has really god hands and listening to all my problems. I had severe back pain after my first pregnancy and now on my second where I reached a point I couldn’t walk. After few sessions even still pregnant I can definitely see a difference and have much more flexibility and ease in my movements. I will continue to see her pre and postnatal to get my body back and to be able to run after my two boys. Thank you very much!

I had a bad lower back and found it difficult to turn in bed and was stiff when I got out of bed, sitting or standing for a long time also made me stiff. Going up and down stairs was also difficult. I would use just one leg to do this so was putting pressure on this leg. I had been diagnosed with scoliosis and osteoarthritis in my knees. I had been to see a ciroprac for my back when I was abroad but this provided relief for a short while. In the UK I was referred to a physio but here again I was given exercises without being seen and again found no relief. A friend finally convinced me to see an Osteopath and introduced me to the Fulham Ostheopath. I saw Verena who after discussing my symptoms has worked gradually on my whole body from my feet upwards. I had a lot of muscle tension and strains which were caused mainly because I didnt take much care when doing things. I was a carer and would just get on with what I had to do and neglected taking care of how I did things. Verena has been able to align my pelvis, sort out my knees and back pain. She has given me stretch exercises specific to strengthen my muscles and correct my posture and suggestions how to share the weight when carrying things. In fact she suggested using a rucksack. I have followed all her instructions and exercises and this has helped me greatly. I have seen such a great improvement and just feel a new person altogether. I am conscious that I am now walking tall. I know I have to keep up with all her suggestions and exercises to have full recovery. Thank you so much Verena for your attentiveness and patience.

Valentina is fantastic. I brought my baby for a few sessions as his movements were somewhat asymmetrical. Valentina identified quickly the issue, and worked on it until solved. I could see the improvement since the first session! She handled my baby with such care and sweetness that my baby also loved it and felt at ease. The room was very warm and prepared for a newborn, which made the experience very enjoyable and also relaxing for both the parent and the newborn. The feedback on video is fantastic, because it allowed me to share it with the dad. We will come back if any issue arises in the future!

My husband and I do a lot of running and have had some injuries in the past - over the years we have gone to Fulham Osteopaths for help with various aches and pains. We have always found them to be professional and knowledgeable. They are private, so on the expensive side, but probably the best in the area. A shout-out to Valentina, Verena, Katie and Elise who have been super! I've always responded well to treatment and would recommend the Fulham Osteopaths team with no reservations.

I was advised to see an osteopath for my 2 month old son as he was holding his neck to one side only while sleeping and was not able to latch. I have been taking my son to see Valentina over the last few months and he has made amazing progress. Within a few sessions he had a full range of motion in his neck. He had some additional tightness in his body which Valentina has really helped with. She provided exercises to do at home which have helped massively with his movement. He has also been able to breastfeed effectively since 3 months thanks to Valentina’s help!
