From my experience, one of the letting agents at this office will refuse to show you properties unless you pre-agree orally to a two year lease with no break clause and is, quite frankly, unwilling to consider anything otherwise. This is detrimental to landlords as quality tenants (who may simply want a degree of flexibility before committing to a longer lease) are not being given the opportunity to view properties or even negotiate above market rental rates for the benefit of a shorter term lease. Everyone seems to lose out apart from the agency and the agent receiving the commission. UPDATE: I have since rented a flat using Kevin Ilunga. This was a significantly better experience. Kevin was helpful, pretty responsive and understood my needs. I would rate this experience 4 stars out of five. As I can not write a second review here I have left the original but updated the score here for my most recent experience.
