Probably the best country pub in the galaxy! Great food, wines and enhanced further by their dog-friendly approach and the Inn Keeper Alex, his wife Lindsay, and their fab team. We’ve just sampled their Seagrass Champagne and Seafood bar and it was sensational. Beautifully curated wine list and fresh seafood. Also made some new friends at the bar, what more could you ask for!? A much needed addition for rural Sussex with its alternative dining options! Keep up the good work!

I felt, It's very much a foodie pub. No complaints but short on space for a group of drinkers. Clearly that would improve during the summer months.

My family and I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a quintessential British roast lunch at the Fountain, Ashurst. Nestled amidst charming old beams and an ambiance steeped in history, this delightful eatery was the perfect setting for a delightful family meal. The rustic charm of the Fountain’s interior created an atmosphere that felt both warm and inviting. The inn's character and historical architecture provided a cozy setting for our lunch. The presence of modern amenities, like Wi-Fi, added a touch of convenience without taking away from the timeless charm of the place. As we settled in, we were greeted by the friendly and attentive staff, who ensured our comfort and offered their assistance throughout our meal. They were knowledgeable about the menu and took the time to explain the different options available for a Sunday roast. The star of the show was, without a doubt, the roast lunch itself. We were treated to succulent meats, cooked to perfection and accompanied by a variety of side dishes. Each plate was a delightful symphony of flavours and textures, from the crisp and golden roast potatoes to the rich and velvety gravy. The Yorkshire puddings were light and airy, a perfect complement to the hearty meal. The Fountain delivered an exceptional dining experience, combining delicious, expertly prepared food with attentive service and a charming atmosphere. My family couldn't have asked for a better way to enjoy a traditional British roast lunch, and we can't wait to return for more.
