FAQ
What is the daily schedule like for those living in the convent?
Our convent is a place of prayer and contemplation, and our daily schedule reflects that. We begin our day with morning prayer and Mass, followed by breakfast and then a period of personal prayer and reflection. Throughout the day, we have scheduled times for communal prayer, work, and recreation. Our day ends with evening prayer and a period of silence before retiring for the night. Are visitors allowed to stay overnight or for a few days?
As a religious community, we welcome visitors who wish to share in our way of life and engage in spiritual reflection. However, due to the nature of our daily schedule and the limited space in our convent, overnight stays are generally not possible. We do, however, offer retreats and other special programs throughout the year that allow visitors to spend more time with us.What type of religious practice or service is offered at the convent?
Our community is rooted in the Catholic faith, and we follow the Rule of St. Benedict, which emphasizes prayer, work, and hospitality. We offer daily Mass, the Liturgy of the Hours, and other devotions, as well as opportunities for spiritual direction and personal prayer. We also engage in various forms of service and outreach to our local community. Are there any specific rules or guidelines that guests must follow while on the premises?
As a religious community, we have certain customs and practices that may be unfamiliar to guests. We ask that visitors respect our way of life and follow our guidelines for behavior while on the premises. For example, we ask that guests refrain from smoking, drinking alcohol, or engaging in behavior that is disruptive to our community. We also ask that visitors dress modestly and refrain from using electronic devices during communal prayer and meals. What inspired the creation of this particular convent and its mission?
Our community was founded in response to a call to live a life of prayer and service in the Catholic tradition. Our mission is to bear witness to the love and mercy of Christ by living a life of simplicity, hospitality, and service. We seek to create a space where people can encounter God and deepen their relationship with Him through prayer, reflection, and service to others.Reviews

My mum has been in Footherley Hall since May and we are very happy with the excellent care she is receiving. She is well looked after by caring, thoughtful staff and there is a lovely sense of family. It is a hard, stressful time for a family when you realise a parent is declining and needs to move into residential care, but Footherley has made the transition smooth and easy for my mum and for us. She is very settled there and most importantly, happy.

My mother has been a resident since February 2017 and she is very happy, content and most importantly safe there. The carers, nuns, nurses and all other staff are very friendly, caring and helpful. We are kept up to date with mom's care and she sees her doctor and chiropodist regularly. She has her hair done weekly and joins in with all the activities that gone on there, which is most days.
