In Nov, booked large group table for December for a birthday celebration. Glad to get a table so close to xmas as everywhere busy with parties. They took my contact details but we turned up to find it in darkness and a note on door, closed due to refurb until further notice. No one had contacted me to advise change in circumstances. What's the point of asking for a phone number and name if they're not going to use it. It put us on the spot to find another venue for so many people. Wagamama to the rescue!

Stopped for a quick lunch on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised, never been here before but the menu looked good. The service was excellent and the food was delivered quickly, we were the only ones in the restaurant tho probably due to the food stalls directly outside! fresh and tasty platter to share and Pad Thai! definitely worth a visit and reasonably priced sides & mains, overall very good

My friends and I visited this restaurant recently and had a bad experience. After we sat down and ordered we were informed that there was only one chef therefore there would be a delay for the food which was fair enough. However, things started to go downhill when the couple on the next table who had entered the restaurant sometime after us were served first, and one of these items was the same item we had ordered. The waitresses were civil but there was not a smile amongst them. Separate waitresses kept coming back to the table and asking us the same questions. They didn't seem to know which table had ordered what meal. It was all a bit perplexing given that the restaurant was half empty. After about 30 mins, we complained and asked how long our meals would be. The couple on the next table were also complaining that they were still waiting for items, and one even complained on our behalf as she could see what had happened. Eventually, after asking multiple times, the waitress informed us the remaining two meals would be 2-3 minutes. 30 mins later, having only received one of the three meals (which by this time was eaten), we got up to leave and paid for the drinks and one meal we had received. At this point we were told by the waitress who had informed us of the "2-3 minutes" that the two remaining meals were now ready. I questioned whether they really were ready given what she had previously told us, and she snapped "there are more people in this restaurant than just you." But instead of facing the situation and waiting for our response, she stormed off so we could not reply. We left and went next door to Pizza Express, where the service in comparison was 10 times better, and we gave the waitress a tip. There was absolutely no need for the outburst we received in The Flying Elephant, and I certainly won't be recommending this place to anyone. I understand that sometimes things can be stressful and obviously the situation with the one chef could not be helped, but honest, friendly staff and good communication make all the difference, and I would say that's what this place lacks.
