Really not sure what's happened to the Fitz bar. Used to be a nice, classy and sophisticated bar with delicious cocktails and snacks, good atmosphere, live jazz music playing. Now seems cheap and tacky, horrible cocktail menu with a tacky idea of shining a light on the menu to see what you're ordering. Decor has gone down hill with neon type lights and pictures. When entering the bar you can no longer do so from the front entrance but instead have to go around. Although signs for this were not clear so multiple customers kept trying to get in via the front before being told by staff who were pointing to go around from the other side of the door. Such a shame really as 2-3 years ago (before COVID) this was a place I would highly recommend. I'm afraid it's now just an average bar.

Staff were not too keen to serve us, it is only after waiting 10' when we were about to leave that they came to take an eventual order. We didn't stay for second. Nice convenient place though but hospitality staff training needed.

Me and my friends booked at table for the 18th March from 21:30 to 00:30. There was a minimal charge of £50 per head. Based on the cost of their drinks, you would be expected to drink 1 to 2 cocktails per hour to hit that target. However, this was quite difficult as the staff was relatively slow with the drinks. In the end, when we realized that we need to spend a bit more, they advised us that it was not possible as the bar is already closed. One of the male staff told us that it was our fault as the minimum spend was clearly stated in our reservation. I would expect the staff to let us know we need to spend a bit more before the last order, but he was adamant that we were responsible to make sure we spent above the minimum spend. It feels like they did it on purpose to not do as much work, as we have to pay the same amount anyway. Waiting staff was generally nice until the bar closes. The whole experience feels a bit like a tourist trap and a scam. At the end, we were forced to buy a few bottles of wine to take away.
