    Bought a large portion of chips for £4.45 and because it was a takeaway we got done with a regular size 😡 I know times are hard but maybe it’s because their competitor in Shenfield has gone out of business and they can do this because there’s no choice. Disappointed

    Stingiest portions I've ever seen. I went to the shop for two regular cod & chips, hoping to get fresh chips for a change, as opposed to ordering online. I've never spent so much for such small portions - £19.90 is ridiculously expensive for what they served. I wish I'd checked it properly before leaving the shop because I'd have asked for my money back. The portions were about the same size as a child's portion from alternative vendors. How come the fillets are a regular 12mm thick! I'm sure the cod I caught last year were 5 or 6 times thicker. A review earlier mentioned "generous portions"... definitely not my experience and must have been from a different branch. About 30 chips each portion crammed into a small box on top of the fish. 2 weeks ago it was worse with chips that looked like they'd been left out for hours... all soggy and barely warm. The pub down the road does cod that hangs off your plate, twice as thick and real chips for not much more money. We've learned our lesson, its just not worth the money.

    Pensioners cod and chips is more like a fish finger and small handful of chips. At 6 quid, compared to all other places this is by far the worst value. The previous time went to this shop the cod I had was full of bones. Suggest avoiding as there are far better shops around than this one.
