Thanks for your response, I feel a need to comment further as some of the points raised by you were simply untrue. By your manager's own admission, you do alter the class to suit majority age groups within and I quote, "Our babies level 1 class is designed for babies ages 6 weeks and above, the teacher may have had a class where the majority were slightly older, she therefore would have had to include slightly more advanced activities." Therefore it would have been helpful to know the age groups of other babies in the class before committing to the full term but your booking system does not provide this information nor were we informed of the wide age range within our class in advance. Regarding the pool temperature, I accept that mistakes can be made due to human error, however it was clear from conversations between members of staff at the time that they knew the pool temperature was suboptimal but continued with lessons anyway. I quote your manager's email, "Unfortunately, the pool did take nearly 2 hrs to come back up to our regular temperature of 32 degrees." If this was the case, parents should have been informed of this and given the option of not attending the class, especially since you stated in your email that you "believe that child comfort, especially for very young ones, is best achieved at 32 degrees". Your offer of trial lessons is not genuine or transparent as it is not stated anywhere on your website that they are available to request and book. Ultimately all I had simply asked for was a deferral to a later term when my baby would be slightly older. This request was refused and instead I was told to return the following week to another lesson. As a parent I did not feel it right to subject my baby to another lesson so soon given his first experience of the pool was so distressing. It is a shame that First Swim cannot understand this, which is why I have had to leave a negative review. Original review: Avoid at all costs. We booked a full term of ‘Bright Start Babies Level 1’ but were very disappointed. Joined the most basic entry level class, but found out afterwards that they change the level of a class based on what the majority of the group’s ages/abilities are so my little one couldn’t do most of the activities despite First Swim stating the class would be suitable for 6 weeks’. Temperature advertised as a “consistent 32 degrees” but felt well below 30 degrees. My little one at 2 months was very uncomfortable but no warning/apology or refund was given at the time despite overhearing staff talk about the issue amongst themselves. Other areas that I felt the experience was lacking were: - the location was very small and overcrowded with buggies and people; - the area to get changed was barely the width of one person and difficult to find the space to properly change a child; - there were no sinks, mirrors, soap or other standard equipment you would expect from a pool/changing area in a facility such as this; - the way that my child and I were rushed from area to area and told to stand in certain places with a very short amount of time to get ready was stressful and felt like a factory production line; - no trial available so have to commit to a full term at the outset; - management were not receptive to or didn’t want to discuss my concerns at the time and after waiting for a while we were asked to leave and correspond by email instead.
