I hate the idea of giving a charity shop a poor review, and it was just one member of staff I suppose, but I just had a mean experience here, which made me feel the world is a little worse. At least I think it was mean. I wanted to buy a book but all I had on me was loose change in my pocket. The book cost 50p, but I only had 49p so I asked if I could have it for 49p and this awful woman said no. I mean, I think she's awful in the way she said it, "I can't give discounts, you'll have to come back later." I smiled at her and she said, "I'm not joking, it's heavily discounted already, it was 9.99 new, so 50p is perfectly reasonable - I can't give discounts." One penny, she can't discount one penny, in a charity shop where they get all their stuff for free? Doesn't charity go both ways anymore? I said, "It's ok, it doesn't matter. Please keep the 49p." and walked away. I don't know why really, but it made me feel more miserable than perhaps it should have done. If it were any other type of business I would give it 1 star, but don't have the heart to do that.
