Completing Stoke Newington's home run of yes, slightly smug and twee but otherwise awesome independent stores where you're proud to spend to your pennies, the Film Shop is great. It's not smart, and you can't buy your movie snacks, but it carries a really good selection of films and TV programmes - whether you're after the latest blockbuster, a 70's TV series or George Melies' Edwardian masterpieces, they'll be here unless someone took them out first. They lose a point for their staff, who are mostly lovely but sometimes make that dude in High Fidelity look totally reasonable and mainstream. But I'm probably only saying that because I like to balance my chin-stroking indie classics with a helping of cheese.
