    This statue is a tribute to William Slim, the British commanding officer who defeated the then invincible Japanese armies in Burma. The statue is located just outside the Ministry of Defence building, next to his fellow Field Marshals of the Second World War, Bernard Montgomery and Alan Brooke. The statues shows Slim in Bush hat and jungle dress, his hands holding a pair of binoculars. IMHO, the statue is not as good as the other two Field Marshals. It just seems to lack the magnificence befitting a genuine war hero.
