Visited yesterday with 3 young children all between the age of 1 and 3 years. They all loved the zoo, it is perfect for that age range, small enough that the walking is manageable for them, good accessibility to viewing points so they could see the animals. The oldest also really enjoyed the park. It is just a shame that we had to cut our trip short. We decided to go for some food at about 12:30, by the time our party had all decided what we wanted from the menu it was just before 1pm. We get in the queue which is long and not really moving but that’s ok, it’s peak time and to be expected. After about 5 minutes standing in the queue someone comes out and yells kitchen closed for the next hour, no food from 1-2pm due to a party. At this point we have 3 starving children who could not wait until gone 2pm for their lunch. It meant we had to leave much before we had planned. I understand that things like this happen and it’s better for them to be honest than keep taking orders they can’t keep up with. My problem is it came without warning, if someone had told us on entrance or if there had been signs around to pre-warn, we would have made sure to order food earlier so we could have continued to enjoy our afternoon. I’m sure we weren’t the only ones in this boat considering most people were visiting with children and I don’t know many children who will happily wait over an hour for food. All in all the zoo is lovely but take a picnic because its not guaranteed food will be available.

Had an amazing meal at the Fenn Bell this evening. Group of 8 and every single dish for all of us was extremely tasty huge portions and served all at the same time. Lovely friendly staff who were very attentive and professional. Definitely will go back and certainly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great respect for the staff dealing with some awful customers! First of all I'd like to highlight how calm and collected the receptionist stayed whilst she was subjected to a tirade of disgusting foul language for something that was totally out of her control (from parents of birthday party no less, classy!). She kept her cool and still found time to help us get a table in the pub whilst or daughter was on her lunch break from her keeper day. My daughter had the best day with Amy who was very friendly and knowledgeable, she got to feed kids of animals and was very excited by the end of it. Food is okay, pretty much what I expect from a busy pub and reasonably priced. Only knocked a star off because the overflow car park resembled the Somme in 1916; I think they need some hard standing out there!

We went on Good Friday for our first visit to the place our friend had recommended. It was very busy, as expected, and we arrived at around lunchtime so decided we’d go into the pub first for some lunch then the zoo. We sat ourselves at a table, and after 5 minutes of looking at the menu we’re told that the table had been reserved and they’d just given away the last available table. There wasn’t any signs on the table to say it was reserved. The girl behind the bar then said I should have gone to the bar to be seated first, but there was no one at the bar at the time and apparently they have signs that say to wait to be seated. It’s a pub!! If a table is reserved PUT A SIGN ON IT!! Simple solution. The trip in general was ruined by the apparent lack of staff throughout. After we were unable to get a table in the pub we walked around the zoo (done in 20 mins) and went to the “food hall” for lunch. I then stood in a queue for 10 mins without it moving an inch, and I didn’t see a single person come to the counter outside to take any orders. I saw a family give up waiting for their food as they had been waiting so long for it and had to get a bus home. After all this I called it a day and gave up waiting in the queue, got in the car and left. Hungry and disappointed. Why so little staff on a bank holiday Easter weekend?? Doubt I’ll bother going back again and I wouldn’t really recommend it to anyone either
