Although the food was nice and there are half price offers during the week, the service is abysmal. We came to eat at 7.15pm on a Thursday. Within 15 minutes they suddenly turned the music up to the point it was hard to hear what my friend was saying. We asked politely if there was any chance in lowering the music. The waitress said bluntly, ‘no, it’s just that kind of place.’ We laughed that off as she suggested we move to the little room near the front. We did and said we had a half price food deal. We ordered food and at no point was it mentioned that bar snacks don’t count as food so they won’t be half price but we ordered olives (technically a bar snack on the menu). The food came and was tasty. Unfortunately the waitress kept coming back regularly, taking our food and asking us if we wanted it wrapped up before we had even finished our drinks. Asking us if we wanted another drink before we had finishe half our pints and when we said no thanks, telling us she would bring us the bill. She brought the bill even though we had showed no interest in leaving and the bar was practically empty. I looked and the food was not half price, they’d charged full price for the olives. I questioned this with the waitress, she went to the bar to check and said olives don’t count. I said, why, they are food. She said olives don’t count as food. I said, you eat them, they are food, the offer didn’t advertise restrictions. She said that’s the way it is. She didn’t attempt to apologise for forgetting to mention or for the poor advertising. She said she couldn’t do anything so I paid and she made a comment saying ‘looks like you could spare that pound after all’ whilst handing me my receipt. She then walked off before I could pull her up for her rude manner. She brought back our change shortly, which was less than a £1 and slyly said, ‘sorry it’s not quite your pound’. Again she walked off before we could say anything. Basically what could have been a lovely meal out with a friend was ruined by an extremely rude and careless manner of staff. No wonder the place is dead.
