A close young-adult family member was an inpatient for three months and in that time had absolutely NO treatment for the condition she was admitted for. She was discharged in a highly suicidal frame of mind and the ward sister's comment on her leaving was, "if you want to kill yourself that's your choice". She immediately tried to kill herself by jumping in a main road, the police called and she was Sectioned and returned to an isolation holding room at the hospital for several day before being discharged again in the same frame of mind. Same scenario happened again and this time she was taken this time to Chertsey MHH. The police said that this type of thing happens all the time at Farnham Road Hospital. We, as her carers had no contact from the hospital for three weeks from her admission - NICE guidelines state "Throughout admission, give families, parents or carers clear, accessible information about the purpose of the admission" etc etc. We were phoned by the hospital and given two hours' notice of her first discharge. We were told that she was very suicidal and a taxi would be called but if she chose not to get in then that was her choice. For her subsequent discharge we were not informed by the hospital at all. NICE guidelines state "Health and social care practitioners in the hospital and community should plan discharge with the person and their family, carers or advocate. They should ensure that it is collaborative, person-centered and suitably-paced, so the person does not feel their discharge is sudden or premature." How can an NHS hospital continue to disregard NICE guidelines in this manner? It's not surprising that mental health is such a problem in this country when the place that is supposed to help you actually makes you worse and places immense stress on you and your family / carers. if you are reading this as a friend / relative of a patient or are going to be a patient at Farnham Road yourself, you have my deepest sympathies and I hope you have a better experience than we did.

I was section on 31st march 2022 as try kill self. I was in suite love lady call melise she love. I stuggle though socail work and man as discarge me i fight case i won. Spent 3 day 2 night. I left on 2april in deoun unit where safe as my plascement broken down so go no go still here. On 1 to 1 as high risk. Im not section any more

Totally useless place. No interest in their patients, just want to get rid of them. So my loved one was discharged and straight away, attempted suicide again and hey wont take him back. Made him worse. Rude, staff, with no care or compassion
