We went with some friends for dinner at Farin Road, and we had a great time. Definitely a hidden gem. We enjoyed the food, which was a really delicious fusion of African and Caribbean flavours and classical cooking techniques.

One of the most flavorful and memorable dinners I’ve ever had at this hidden gem of a place. Firstly, it operates only a few nights of the week (Fridays and Saturdays I believe). Reservations recommended as it was almost full when we visited. On to the feast…The bean soup was a special highlight for me, with a rich, hearty and complex flavor. The jerk chicken with jollof rice was perfectly done and deliciously spicy, with the plantains balancing the dish with a sweet and crunchy texture. There is a special scotch bonnet oil the chef creates in-house, which took the jollof rice to the next level. Also a very special mention for the mango sorbet in the cheesecake dessert - so fresh! My friends had the special hummus, goat haggis, the brisket burger and the fish with shrimps - loved by all. My husband mentioned that brisket was out of this world and one of the best he’s ever had! I also really loved my supermalt drink! Everything was very reasonably priced and the portions were large! We are considering returning to Edinburgh just to have another dinner here. A must for any spice (or flavor) lovers in this area. Hats off to Chef Tunde Abifarin!!

A very cosy restaurant with delicious and authentic food. They were very accommodating when we had less than an hour to eat before a show.

Had such an amazing experience at Farin Road this weekend. The chef and staff alike were so friendly and welcoming. A brilliant, relaxed atmosphere to try the Pan African inspired menu. For food, we had the suya chicken wings which were delicious, the mains were brilliant too. We opted for the pulled beef burger and jerk flavoured chicken. For dessert, we tried the deconstructed hibiscus cheesecake which came beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. Overall a very enjoyable experience like no other you’d find across Scotland, and we’ll most definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Dining at Farin Road was such a refreshing experience….. This gem is tucked away at the famous Tani Modi brunch house on Hanover Street and is open on specific days of the week – so you must book in advance to make sure you get fed. On arrival, Abi surprised us with a great hummus and olive on a chapati crisp amuse-bouche. This crisp was loaded with roasted seeds and a single fresh coriander leaf; which looked like garnish at first, until I had a bite of it and realised that it was a very intentional placement as it delivered a fresh punch which clearly opened up my senses in preparation for the feast. We moved on to the Eja Dindin (whitebait) and Goat Haggis for our starters. My haggis was served with a side of fresh salad and mayo and the fresh Eja Dindin was served with a lemon wedge on mayo. I had Boli for my main - which was a vegetarian feast of fried plantain, lentil dahl and a samosa, my friend had the jerk chicken breast with jollof. We never made it to dessert thanks to generous portions….. Let’s just say that I am not complaining. In lieu of dessert, Abi presented an amazing smooth rum which was the perfect cherry to the proverbial cake. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Farin Road’s vision is very evident in their fusion and presentation….. The food is perfectly tailored to look great and still deliver a flavour punch - the perfect introduction to Pan-African dining. They also showcase their Atarodo range of chilli oil, chutneys and sauces with their food – so it was great knowing that I can bag them for the pantry 😉 I will be back!

I had panafrican dinner there recently and it just blew my mind. Abhi is Masterchef's material. Also, he explained to us the dishes' background and how he reinvented them for the UK public without losing their essence. Well worth the money. They offer panafrican cuisine only a few days per week, so check in advance their eebsite before getting there. New hidden gem!
