I went with my partner to visit her auntie who was on the dementia unit . We were met with a terrible place, the poor residents sitting around the room, some of which were covered in food and not attended to.one resident was very unsteady on her feet and nobody was noticing her, a woman I'm guessing was the manager came out and started And didnt seem to be helping the staff who I felt sorry for...to give out strawberries who does this....she seemed oblivious to this whilst staff appeared stressed and under pressure....poor patients...felt sad for my partner who's aunt was here but she has dementia and seems to be ok....wish we could afford to send her somewhere else.

Found the majority of staff to be indifferent, or as bored as the residents who are slumped all day in chairs in the one and only "lounge". No stimulation, no interaction. Smell of urine is unbearable for the first five minutes. Stepped over a puddle in the corridor. Not sure what is was but a resident could have easily slipped over. Nowhere to visit family other than in the main lounge where everyone is sat staring at walls. One man had soiled himself so we had to point that out to the staff. My father's room had broken furniture, not even a chair to sit on and a wardrobe full of ladies clothing. Absolute disgrace of a place. Pity anyone who has to spend time here as a resident. Very sad and soulless place to be.

My nanna spent 5 months here 2 years ago, she was given a shower once. The food is very basic and she weighed 5 stones at the end of her stay. She was dressed in other resident clothes/underwear multiple times, the regular carers were lovely but very rushed due to limited staff on the shift. The night shift had just 2 staff to put everyone to bed and then get them up again in the morning. Dementia residents were put in Fairfield rather than the elms and would be shouting out for the toilet day in day out. As soon as the residents were up they basically just all sat in the lounge staring at the walls all day as the TV provided was on the other side of the room. When my nanna went to hospital she had a grade 2 pressure sore, was 5 stone and was wearing someone else's underwear.

On entrance to property it seems very clean and welcoming once entered in to the main lounges the smell of urine hits you like a ton of bricks in the face due to residents not being bathed on a regular basis residents are not listened to and under stimulated and given choices and as for the management is very arrogant and self righteous and family member are patronized and be-littled which is a shame for staff members who are trying their best under her moral
