Took my 86 year old father this afternoon as an emergency. 4 weeks post cataract surgery at another hospital and he was experiencing pain and impaired vision. Registered, triaged, examined and treated all within 4 hours. All staff so kind, patient, competent and reassuring. Could not praise them all more highly. Thank you to our wonderful NHS staff. What would we do without them.

Absolute shambles. Referred to eye casualty following a problem which was examined and diagnosed elsewhere. Received unintelligible answer phone message instructing me to go to eye casualty the next day (Sunday) plus three subsequent phone calls. Couldn't possibly get there on a Sunday so said I would go next day. I was told they would put me on the afternoon list. Arrived at 1pm to be treated as though I was just a "walk in". They had no idea what I was there for despite having rung me several times. I stayed for best part of an hour in the waiting area before asking how long I might have to wait to be seen. The reply came that I hadn't been triaged yet................ I said I had effectively been triaged two days before when I was referrex. Surely the referring optician sent through some details. Suffice to say I didn't bother staying. A complete and utter disorganised shambles. Have also spoken with other people with very similar experiences. Edited to add even more appalling inefficiency. I was telephoned by the eye casualty people to let me know that my "appointment for Monday had been changed to Thursday". I had never been informed of any appointment but by that time the problem had resolved itself - best part of two months after the original problem!

Some of the most rudest staff I've come across. My dad couldn't drive, that's why we were here, eye problem, my mum can't walk, in a wheelchair, that's why I drove them there. First receptionist couldn't raise a smile and jumped down my throat for not wearing a mask. Then another woman came rushing out and told us we couldn't all be there, waiting room was empty though, her attitude stank, tried explaining the situation to her but a uniform has obviously gone to her head. She was so rude to my dad, who is in his late 70s, while I was parking. Kept asking him 'why u here' u shouldn't be here. We were referred from Salisbury the previous night by a Dr who had called them the night before. But apparently they had no knowledge of this. She actually said my dad should be at Bournemouth hospital cause he lives on Wiltshire Dorset border. Would never go back there, if dad ever gets referred again I've told him if Bournemouth is ever an option to pick it as never been treated or spoken too like the way we were there. Salisbury staff were brilliant though.

Emergency appointment needed. Bit of a wait due to being fitted in but excellent professional service. Tested for issue and arranged for a local hospital to undertake the operation the next day
