The food we had was absolutely to die for (Onda Pasta) some of the best pasta I’ve ever had. Service however was really awful. I’ve worked in hospitality for almost 10 years and have been a restaurant manager. What we experienced was just not up to par. If it wasn’t for the food I would give 1 star. I had been trying to book a table for 3 days and could not get the website to work for me. I could see availability and could get through to add my details then it would crash every time, unable to go any further. I asked the person I was dining with to try and reserve an table and they had the same issues over multiple days. I tried to ring multiple times and I got no answer. We turned up on a Thursday evening around 5pm so pre-dinner rush with no reservation hoping to get a walk in. As we got to the host’s station we got no welcome or hello, and only “do you have a reservation?” To which I replied “no actually we rang and tried to book online and I think the website might have been down”. The host audibly started laughing at us and replied “no we’re just really busy that’s why you couldn’t book”. There was about 6 tables seated and the rest was empty at this point. She then looked at the booking system where I could visibly see gaps (again, I’ve worked in hospitality for years) , and groaned as if she was working excruciatingly hard to find a gap. She then told us there was a table for 2 which we could use “but only for an hour and a half” which was fine with us. We were then seated on one of the many empty tables, and within about 30 seconds had another member of staff ask us what we wanted to order. I said we were not yet ready and to give us a couple of minutes, this waitress made us feel as though this was a chore for her rather than her job role, and then walked off for 10 minutes before returning. We ordered drinks and food and then the waitress came back as the wine I had ordered was not in stock. I then said I’d have a white wine. Food came out and was amazing, we had no check ins from staff regarding the food. Then after 45 minutes to an hour a man came up to us clearly trying to get the table flipped despite us being told we had an hour and a half. He asked if we needed anything else and we said no. At which point he stood at the head of our table awkwardly for about 30 seconds. To end the awkwardness I said “we’ll take the bill please” and he replies great. The bill came out and I was floored that the waitress decided to pick the most expensive glass of white wine on the menu, when I said any white wine would do as an alternative. Odd upselling technique, given I wasn’t informed of this. I was also pretty floored by the choice to charge us a service charge given the poor service we had received and the staff making us feel that we were a burden rather than paying customers. We asked for a card machine and then sat for an another 10-15 minutes waiting to pay, while the the staff that had been rushing us stood around chatting. As we left we got no goodbye or thank you for coming. I was really excited to eat at Exhibition and sadly will not be returning. It is a shame that the institution seems to think they are too cool or exclusive to teach their staff basic customer service skills beyond taking an order.

A more refined take on the modern phenomenon of the food court. Been here with and without kids - both times were fantastic but you need to keep the little ‘uns under control as it’s a treat to be here and you don’t want to be ruining the vibe for that well-dressed young couple on a date. Can’t rate this place enough. Top marks to front-of-house who are both lovely and effective. Boom!

Instagram letdown. My friend and I came here after seeing Onda featured on @EATMCR. Be warned: they have a different menu on Sundays which they *do* *not* fore warn you about. It seems to be constantly fully booked online and if you want to walk in despite perpetually being half empty in person. We were left incredibly disappointed by the lack of choice with only one veggie option available out of all three restaurants in the space, and all of the usual menu options also unavailable. We had the burrata to share from Onda which was absolutely gross, drowning in olive oil and farrrrr too salty (we had to literally scrape salt off the top of it). I had the lasagne from Onda which was okay at best. My friend had the cauliflower roast which wasn’t even an entire cauliflower steak, literally just half and was one of the saddest meals I’ve seen, it also tasted okay. When we finished our meal, the staff cleared our plates, and we sat for half an hour waiting for someone to come past, nothing, we were not offered dessert, the bill, nothing. So we got up and stood by the reception station where 3 staff passed us as another group of staff stood chatting, and we were ignored to the point we had to approach and ask the bartender so that we could pay the bill. Not somewhere I would be returning anytime soon and extremely disappointing. Only redeeming feature was nice live music.

We’d booked a dinner for my partners birthday and was particularly excited by the “onda” menu. (Had seen it on Instagram). When we arrived we were told the lasagne (beef Raghu one) was out of stock. Annoyingly, this was the one my partner had his eye on, but it is what it is. So we took some more time to decide what we wanted. We then attempted to order a second time and started with ordering the garlic bread, the server told us this was also out of stock. Annoying again, as it was maybe 5 minutes maximum between orders so felt like we should’ve been told this the first time. Third time trying to order we went for short rib aranchini. You’ve guessed it, server comes back telling us this was out of stock also. We then had to go for vegetarian lasagne, focaccia and some other dishes we weren’t very excited by. It was disappointing and I felt the servers weren’t communicating enough us, nor apologetic enough in my opinion. They joked about coming back to order more “if they have anything left” and told us they’ve started calling the other bookings for the night telling them they have very little left in stock. Overall, if you’re offering such a minimal menu, with a combination of 8 different dishes, to not have 3 of them by 630 on a Sunday night when you’re due to serve until 9pm isn’t good enough. It was a £45 a head dinner and I’m struggling to justify paying that for the experience
