I booked Lewis to come along to our meeting place and run a self defence session with our Explorer Scout Section. Absolutely Fantastic! The scouts loved it, learnt new skills and had fun. The session was taught really well, Lewis has a great wealth of knowledge and skill which he communicated and demonstrated in a way that all abilities could follow. I would highly recommend Exeter Self-defence Academy.

Lewis teaches my son, who is autistic and visually impaired. He attends 1:1 sessions every week for self-esteem and confidence. Lewis is able to create an accepting, neurodiverse-friendly environment where my son has blossomed. Lewis uses teaching techniques and language that is accessible. He is also kind, calm and the perfect advert for inclusion.

My daughter started 1:1 lessons with Lewis when she was 12 and now, a year on, this is what she has to say, ‘Lewis is a very kind & caring person. I always have a really fun time in there & I learn a lot. I feel more confident and as a girl of my age I feel powerful & brave. It’s a fun way to exercise too & I really enjoy it!’

I've had recently birthday party run by these. The coach was fun and works well with children. Great idea for boys only birthday. My boy doesn't do any martial arts and he was just fine there. They personalised the class to our liking, obviously there's a range of activities. We wanted boxing and wrestling, but they can do pretty much anything within martial arts. They were well equipped, brought all the mats and gloves. Cut the cake with samurai sword 🤩 it all pan out as planned. The only thing is if you're outside Exeter and you don't want it on their premises you need to pay them + room hire and them driving over too so it does get pricey hence 4*

I absolutely love that I have found this new Journey with ESDA! The way the team leaders explain & show all the little important, skills, details is amazing! We then " get down to business". Practise, encourage, practice, encourage- thats how i feel, we are all equals & that's the atmosphere created by Lewis & Sophie with such great people! Thankyou for letting me into your family 🙏 I know i will get there with alot of practice & the support from you guys @ ESDA! 💪

My boys love their classes and can barely wait for the next one. They have joint 6 months ago and I can see such a difference in the way they carry themselves. These classes have provided not only fun, and self defense techniques, but also how to approach others and how they see themselves in relation to others. The best part is that they can see their progress and are enjoying it even more now than when they first began. And the instructors are fantastic, and very committed to deliver a high quality of service. I highly recommend it.

My grandchild has a great time in his lessons. Sophie, the instructor, is really good explaining the moves and recognising any pupil who has not quite grasped a move. I'm so glad we chose this academy.

Both Lewis and Sophie are great commentators within the groups they teach. My girls absolutely love the activities that they do and I have seen a difference with the strong values they stand by!!
