Our second stay at this lovely location in the countryside; our first post covid. Giant chess, table tennis, croquet on the beautifully manicured lawns. Pre-dinner drinks on the sunny patio and most excellent food 👌 😀 Lovely staff - welcoming and attentive. Our room was large, airy, and quiet with view over lawns. A couple of minor attentions requiring a maintenance visit, but nothing that would stop us revisiting.

Lovely stay at Essborne Manor, rooms were lovely and spacious, with some nice original features. Everyone very friendly and helpful. But the highlight of our stay was the food....wow !! Tasted as wonderful as it looked. The hotel is out in the sticks, so no pubs or shops within walking distance, but no problem for us as only there one night.

Excellent last time so bought two "Sparkling Break" vouchers in the sale to return, this time with friends (who had also been before). This included a bottle of prosecco, cream tea and the 7 course tasting menu dinner. It also included the best available rooms and we both had excellent "premier" rooms (St Albans and Exeter) with 4 poster beds and bathrooms with spa bath and separate shower. TV with many channels, good tea making facilities (and home made biscuits), good free Wi-Fi and great quality bathroom toiletries. Cream tea (can be taken in the lounge, bar or library) was very good with a choice of teas and freshly made scones. The tasting menu was fantastic with a wide variety if extremely tasty food (and a very reasonably priced 4 glass wine flight to accompany). The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. We had a lovely view of the gardens. Breakfast was a limited continental selection and then several cooked options. The full English and the smoked salmon and scrambled egg were both excellent. All staff were very helpful and friendly and we all really enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely return again!
