This was the third time I'd visited the Playhouse, in each case to see a show by Erith Operatic, an amateur society. As I've come to expect, it was a great show, full of energy, and I wonder how many hours went into the rehearsals. I don't know how they achieved all they did on the small stage! Having a band, expertly conducted and proficient, was a definite plus. Other groups also perform at the Playhouse. As far as the theatre is concerned, it is small, with facilities limited, but the seats are comfortable with ample space for the 90 percentile. A very useful feature is a projection screen on the back wall of the stage that is used to add to the set, thus keeping as much of the stage free of scenery (and available for the performers) as possible.
