Although I completely agree with the idea behind this agency and love working with vulnerable and disadvantaged students, I question the "employment" side - tutors are freelance, yet EE allocate the work and set the fee, but by not "employing" tutors, there is no holiday pay, sick pay or pension contribution - no employers costs. All this factored in makes the pay rates very low and I question the ethics of that together with the expectation that tutors will fund their own resources. To be honest, I have found other agencies to be fairer and the NTP too - and the rate of pay is higher. Yes, vulnerable students need good teaching but teachers need fair pay and conditions too. I noticed EE has been awarded some NTP work and I hope those tutors get the pay rates and provided resources in those instances - otherwise they should switch agency!

The communication and support is excellent and EE care deeply about their mission and students they support. As a tutor I have felt well supported and my concerns have been dealt with professionally. I have been using a tutor from Equal for just over a year now. I have not been able to access education due to health so a tutor has been working with me at home. This has worked so well for me. Last year I achieved my functional skills in Maths and English and then went on to study for my GCSEs. I am actually now taking four GCSE’s and expected to get good grades and this wouldn’t of happened had it not been for the guidance and support of my tutor Melanie and Equal Education. I can’t thank them enough and will actually be sad when I’m finished this year!

I love working for this team. Yes, it's not always consistent employment but it's the nature of the role. The children I work with have many distinct needs and I have always found that the communication from the team (Harvest in particular) has been marvellous. My wages have always arrived on time and I'd love to be paid more especially for the planning and extra time you put in but it is what it is. I enjoy the work and enjoy working with the team.

My son, who has mental health issues, has been tutored by Jon from Equal Education for around two years to date and I cannot fault his approach in bringing new topics to life for my son. A wide range of media and tools are used. Flexibility is built into teaching methods when my son is not coping well and my son has found the whole experience fulfilling and enlightening. My son and I are Impressed with the service received from Equal Education.
