Problem below solved on following day. Good quality exchange and sensible apology from staff for long delay. Proactive approach to the problem today including an area wide change to breakdown assistance and exchange of cars. Glad that some good came from yesterday's experience. Courtesy car with 50k mileage, dirty inside, dings and scratches all round, query faulty gearbox. Drove the car appx. 40 miles but not driving predictably. Requested exchange at my workplace so that I could return home safely. Staff at Barnsley did not fulfil this request during opening hours. I managed to get the car home this evening but it has since been deemed dangerous to drive by the call-out mechanic. I am without a courtesy car.

Picking up our vehicle in the morning was quick and easy. Dropping off was another matter. There was one member of staff, plus a lad who had just started work that day, with a queue of pick ups and check ins. The staff were still both very helpful and efficient, the new starter trying his best to placate irate customers, I forget his name but he did an excellent job in trying circumstances. Better staffing at peak times? Procedures need a bit of tweaking, for instance having the security deposit highlighted just below the booking fees on the confirmation email and not hidden away in tiny text at the bottom? There were umpteen other items that I cannot now remember, based on my experience as a vehicle rentals manager 20 years ago. Just remembered one: if the website says full to full ( the best way to go in rentals) that is what it should be. Not 1/8th to 1/8th, I'm sure we lost out on fuel there! However, the staff we dealt with were brilliant. Efficient, professional and you should be proud of them. At check in time there appeared to be other staff, probably nothing to do with the rentals, about and ignoring the customers wanting to collect their hires which, I think, was why some other customers were getting annoyed at having to wait. The van was great and it "did what it said on the tin", so thank you.

Booking process was easy and hassle free. I hired a van as I needed to move house, had everything arranged around the van rental. Half an hour before I was to pick the van up at midday I received a telephone call telling me that the van hadn’t passed the safety checks and I couldn’t have one that day. Obviously not impressed with this I asked them to arrange something else, after a couple of angry calls they said I could pick up a Luton van a little later. So I rearranged the move around this, and again received a call an hour later saying I couldn’t have that one either. Really unhelpful attitude, couldn’t care less about the situation they’d put me in. For such a large company you’d think they’d be more organised and communicative. Europcar are much better sorted me out with a van for the same afternoon. Cost less too.

What a fantastic experience! Hired a van out for a house move and it was such a smooth and enjoyable experience with enterprise! Had abit of an issue with van at first but as an apology they gave me a discount which they didn't have to do which makes it even better! A special thanks to Theo and Oscar for being polite and helpful and a real credit to Enterprise! Thank you again would recommend!
