Screen one is the best cinema screen in London. Despite being a Grade II listed building, the Crown Estate appears to be forcing Empire to close the cinema on 11th May and turn it into yet another unwanted shopping precinct. I presume it'll be an Ole and Steen or Franco Manca imminently. The silence from film media is deafening. 96 years of West End film history being thrown away. Thank you to all the staff for always making this place feel a little extra special to escape for two hours.

More people need to know about this AMAZING cinema!!! It's in an old historical building and it's just gorgeous!!!! It enhances the film viewing experience by the sheer fact that it looks like it's out of a movie itself. Highly recommend checking it out!!!!

Watched a movie yesterday in screen 2 for the first time and I can easily say this is the worst cinema I've been in London. Chairs and the overall location is dated and damaged, there was a weird damp smell and there were loud noises coming from the emergency exit throughout the movie which was very disturbing.

It's an old cinema with an air of faded grandeur. Feels a little neglected but the staff were very nice. Screen 2 is quite small and is angled slightly inwards to the left when facing it. You'll see best if you get seats in the front or middle rows and more the left hand side (but not too far left as there is a pillar that could annoy you 😬). The women's toilets are a bit shabby but seem fairly clean at least.

The venue was lovely, great interior, but the sound was abysmally low. I don’t understand why theaters cutback on volume when it makes up nearly half the reasoning for going to the cinema. I want to be enthralled and absorbed entirely and it’s really difficult to when you can hear the people 3 rows away from you eating their popcorn the entire time.
