Emaus is really a great place for recycling and reuse, and an amazing institution. They stock most household stuff big (tables, sofas, beds) and small (cups, plates, cutlery) plus loads and loads of general stuff. Prices are really good, quality is of course variable, but I have found lots of good things there. It is a great place to check out before you go to Ikea and buy a load more mass-produced stuff. It is an international chain, and works with the community, including employing vulnerable people and people with special needs, so when you go it isn't like going to Sofa Warehouse, but for me this is also a plus.

Great shop the only problem I have is the rudeness of the men they have standing at the door offering hand sanitizer, who frightened the living daylights out of my vulnerable client when she refused the hand sanitizer, ( she Had her own) he stood in front of her about an inch from her face and said she cannot enter. I understand these guys that work here are also vulnerable, but please practice kindness rather than aggression when there is absolutely no need for it.

Excellent charity shop. There are 3 different Emmaus stores in Lambeth (all in the same are on both sides of Knights Hill), specialising in furniture, electrical and other. They are a great resource if you need to replace anything around the home at short notice and their furniture tends to be better quality.
